The College of Alberta School Superintendents is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Paulette Hanna as Director of Leadership Learning. Dr. Hanna will assume the position on or before September 1, 2011.
Paulette Hanna has served as a system educational leader in both deputy and superintendent positions for two Alberta jurisdictions, most recently Chief Superintendent Red Deer Catholic Regional School Division. She is a visionary leader with a proven record in leadership development at both the school and system levels. Dr. Hanna utilizes educational research and a broad knowledge of relationships and educational opportunities to encourage and mentor others.
Paulette Hanna has her Doctorate of Education in Education Leadership from the University of Calgary. She was awarded the City of Red Deer Woman of Excellence with Distinction award and was also winner of the National Canadian Association of School Administrators EXL Award in 2010. Most recently she was awarded the G.H. Dawe Memorial Award of Excellence by Red Deer College where she has served two terms on the Board of Governors.
Paulette Hanna has a long and productive association with the College of Alberta School Superintendents having served for seven years in the executive filling all positions from Zone 4 Director to President and Past President. Her knowledge of our efforts to build system leadership capacity is extensive. Dr. Hanna’s comments, " I am very excited to have the opportunity to continue the important work of building school system leadership capacity. I look forward to working with senior system leaders and educational stakeholders throughout the province as we move forward in transforming Alberta's education system".
CASS President, Barry Litun states, "I am confident that Dr. Hanna's leadership attributes combined with her ability to develop strong relationships will enable her to lead the continued growth of the CASS system leader capacity building initiative."
