- *A new, two-tiered, self-funded support model was approved by the Board of Directors on October 7, 2020.
- Under the model, tier-one would see all active, regulated CASS members receive advice from CASS’ executive director and/or an experienced or retired superintendent/director on professional disputes.
- **Upon awareness that a matter of concern would not be addressed by legal representation of a member’s school jurisdiction, and an evaluation of the potential impact of the matter to a member, a group of members, or the membership as a whole, then approval of support for a legal opinion on the matter may be provided.
- Additional engagement of a complainant with the selected law firm will be the responsibility of the complainant. A summary of the new program is accessible in the Members Portal.
*While the member insured model that CASS subscribed to prior to October 1, 2020 no longer covers members, according to the insurance policy, any member whose complaint was continuing to be represented through legal counsel at the time of policy cancellation, will have continued coverage until the matter is resolved.
** At no time has CASS’ legal support programs been supported through a member’s registration fees. Previous programs have either been supported directly by members’ personal contributions or through funding generated by CASS. The new MLAP program will be entirely supported by revenue generated by CASS outside of member’s registration fees.
